Insurance is complicated. That’s why Connect for Health Colorado offers a state-wide network of certified experts who can help you complete your application in person and for free.
Health Coverage Guides are available at San Juan Basin Public Health to provide education about affordable health insurance to their respective communities. While they can’t make specific plan recommendations, these trusted experts can help you enroll and apply for financial assistance to lower your costs. They are also very experienced in helping with complicated situations such as when one family member receives public assistance while the others do not.
Reminders for 2018
As Colorado’s health insurance marketplace, Connect for Health Colorado is still on track to offer you financial help, if you qualify, to lower the cost of your health insurance for 2018. In fact, many customers receiving financial help through Connect for Health Colorado will likely pay less in 2018 than in 2017. They will see the premium that they pay (full premium minus the Premium Tax Credit amount) go down by 20 percent on average in 2018. The next Open Enrollment Period is Nov. 1st, 2017 – Jan. 12, 2018. This is THE time to enroll in health insurance for 2018 unless you have a qualifying Life Change Event like getting married. Sign up by Dec. 15, 2017 to ensure no lapse in coverage and health insurance taking effect Jan. 1, 2018.
Health Coverage Guides help clients determine if they are eligible for tax credits to lower monthly premiums, as well as obtaining health insurance so as to avoid tax penalties for being uninsured.
Tax Form 1095-A
The information on Form 1095-A will help you report your health insurance coverage and any financial assistance you may have received last year to the IRS. Be sure to keep the document in a safe spot you can easily access when you prepare your 2016 taxes.
Health Coverage Guides will be available for enrollment services at events in La Plata and Archuleta counties. No appointment is needed to ask questions about Health First Colorado (Medicaid), Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+), or Connect for Health Colorado. People can also enroll in those programs at the event.
