Cancer Prevention & Early Detection

The Women’s Wellness Connection (WWC) program provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings, diagnostic testing, and health navigation to women who are uninsured, underinsured, or low-income. For those who do not qualify for the program, SJBPH also accepts private insurance, which should cover preventative screenings at 100%, meaning: no cost for you. Please note we are unable to accepted Medicare.

Mammograms & Pap Tests

Free mammogram referrals and pap tests are available at San Juan Basin Public Health for those who qualify. See if you qualify (many people do).

We Can Help

We can support those who meet requirements with funding for services, transportation, and other gift card incentives as needed.

Cervical Cancer

Women ages 21-64 should get checked for cervical cancer every 3-5 years with a Pap test (or Pap smear) and/or an HPV test. These quick, routine tests are done in a doctor’s office or clinic.

Wondering what to expect? Find out more about the tests.

Breast Cancer

Women over age 40 can get checked for breast cancer with a mammogram. Doctors recommend getting this x-ray test every 1 - 2 years, depending on age.
