Narcan and Fentanyl Test Strip Distribution Event

SJBPH will be distributing FREE naloxone and fentanyl test strips and educating people on how to use these tools. Everyone is welcome. Stop by SJBPH's Durango office lobby to learn more.
Naloxone (also known by the brand name Narcan®) is a medication used to counter the effects of opioid overdose, for example morphine or heroin overdose. Specifically, naloxone is used in opioid overdose to counteract life-threatening depression of the central nervous system and respiratory system, allowing an overdose victim to breathe normally.

Fentanyl test strips can identify the presence of fentanyl in unregulated drugs. They can be used to test injectable drugs, powders and pills. Being aware if fentanyl is present allows people to make changes to reduce the risk of an overdose.
