San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) is hosting two events to support community wellness and insurance enrollment in Durango and Pagosa Springs. Community members are invited to attend to learn more about community programs supporting wellness for the whole family, and to get assistance in English and Spanish with enrolling in insurance for 2023 through Colorado Medicaid, Connect for Health Colorado’s marketplace, or Colorado Connect. Food will be provided at both events.
- Pagosa Springs: Thursday, Dec. 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join SJBPH programs to learn about health resources in the area. SJBPH office, 502 S 8th Street.
- Durango: Friday, Dec. 9, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Join SJBPH, La Plata Family Centers Coalition, and community organizations to learn about wellness programs in the area. Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road.
Open enrollment for insurance occurs annually between Nov. 1 and Jan. 15. During this period, individuals and families can enroll in insurance for the coming year, with or without a life-changing event (birth, death, marriage, divorce, loss of employment, etc.). Residents should enroll by Dec. 15 for coverage beginning Jan. 1 and have until Jan. 15 to enroll for coverage beginning Feb. 1.
Colorado residents can now apply for coverage through OmniSalud, a new program through Colorado Connect, a partner of Connect for Health Colorado. OmniSalud provides Coloradans who are undocumented with a safe way to compare health insurance plans and enroll on a secure online platform. You can learn more about this program at https://connectforhealthco.com/get-started/omnisalud/.
