San Juan Basin Public Health is hiring an Environmental Health Specialist I to perform inspections and investigations in one or more areas of food safety, childcare facilities, schools, public swimming pools, hazardous and solid waste, zoonoses, communicable disease and other related areas. Incumbents, as assigned, conduct compliance inspections; review applications, plans and designs; write reports and document activities; investigate complaints; determine areas of non-compliance; recommend a course of action; assist in the resolution of issues; conduct sampling; and assist in epidemiological and zoonotic investigations. Members of the environmental health team work closely with community partners and the public to protect public health and the environment on behalf of San Juan Basin Public Health.  A bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological, sanitary, environmental or health science and one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. This position is scheduled to close July 6, 2020, or until an adequate pool is reached.  The hiring range for this position is $21.04 to $30.52 an hour.  New hires are typically made at or near the minimum of the hiring range; the full wage range is included on the job description.

Environmental Health Specialist I

Job Description

San Juan Basin Public Health is hiring an Environmental Health Specialist III as a team lead for water and air quality programs. This position will take a lead role in environmental health permitting, compliance, enforcement, education, and public health investigations, and will serve as a subject matter expert for the program areas of on-site wastewater, drinking water, aquatic facilities, and indoor and outdoor air quality. As a senior member of the environmental health team, this position may, as assigned, perform high profile and complex inspections and plan reviews, administer program budgets, conduct program development activities, prepare documentation for the Board of Health, and take enforcement actions. This position may supervise a small number of staff on a project-by-project or ongoing basis.  A bachelor’s degree in a physical, biological, sanitary, or environmental science and five years of related experience and one year as an Environmental Health Specialist II or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  This position is scheduled to close 3/13/2020, or until an adequate pool is reached.  The hiring range for this position is $24.51 to $30.64 an hour.  New hires are typically made at or near the minimum of the hiring range; the full wage range is included on the job description.
