Point-of-Care Testing Options Provided by SJBPH and CDPHE 

  • All testing options described below are provided to you at no cost, however; there may be associated costs for PPE and waste disposal.

PCR Testing by Send-Out with ATCG Laboratory

  • The “gold standard” for COVID testing.
  • This test option is the most sensitive and specific option available.
  • Detects viral RNA and represents a current infection.
  • Specimen collections can be self-administered under trained supervision.
  • No CLIA licensing is required for your facility to use this testing option.
  • All result reporting requirements are handled by ATCG labs.
  • Specimens are shipped to the lab overnight (at no cost to you) and results are provided within 18-72 hours.
  • Samples collected and tested with ATCG can be also used for variant testing if the Sars-CoV2 virus is detected.

Rapid Antigen Testing (BINAX NOW)

  • High specificity but lower sensitivity than PCR and Rapid Nucleic Acid Amplification testing
  • Detects viral antigens (proteins)
  • Specimen collections can be self-administered with supervision
  • For workplace or organizational testing:
    • Testing can be completed and results obtained within 30 minutes
    • CLIA license is required. Application takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and costs $180
    • All results must be reported to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) within 24 hours. Please report all positive results to SJBPH within 4 hours.  Reporting options designed for your testing program will be provided.

Results reporting to the state of Colorado and San Juan Basin Public Health

  1. All COVID test results must be reported to CDPHE within 24 hours.
  2. Please report positive COVID results to San Juan Basin Public Health by end of the day.
  3. Follow these instructions for reporting.

IMPORTANT: PEOPLE WHO HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID SHOULD NOT BE TESTED AGAIN FOR 90 DAYS. If someone feels they need to be tested within 90 days of a positive test, please direct them to seek the advice of a medical professional or call San Juan Basin Public Health.
